Look for Cover

While you are hunting, do pay full attention to the heavy covers. Predators are moving out there to hunt down rabbits and rabbits use a very common defense technique – being out of sight. Rabbits like to hide behind and dense bush, tall and high grass and other thick cover. Whenever you are looking for a solo or a bunch of rabbits, do look into these thick covers to find them out. Though they are found abundantly, it still can be hard to identify them in wider fields.

Allow Pause

Using the sound of your footsteps to bring out the rabbits is an old technique. The rabbits can hear your footsteps and then rush around to hide or flee assuming danger. This can again create a problem when certain rabbits stay calm and freeze when they hear such sound. So it will be a better decision to periodically pausing footsteps and give the rabbits the impression that the danger is gone and they can come out now. Eventually this will make them come out of hiding place and you can take your shot.

Wait at Times

If you have triggered any rabbit and it is flashing through the thick covers, do not follow it running or hanker after it. Let it move and flee. You should stand still and carefully observe its movement and trace the tracks. Once it convinces itself that the danger is gone, it will again come out of its hiding place and will allow you to get a good shot at it. It can return to the place it ran away from as well.
